Frame Measurements

Understanding Eyewear Measurements

Every pair of glasses has three key measurements printed on the temple arm, usually formatted as: 52-18-140. Here's what they mean:

Lens Width (52mm)

The horizontal width of one lens at its widest point. This is the most important measurement for fit.

  • Small: 48-51mm
  • Medium: 52-55mm
  • Large: 56-58mm
  • Extra Large: 59mm+

Bridge Width (18mm)

The distance between the two lenses where they sit on your nose.

  • Narrow: 14-17mm
  • Medium: 18-20mm
  • Wide: 21-24mm

Temple Length (140mm)

The length of the arms from the hinge to the tip that rests behind your ear.

  • Short: 130-135mm
  • Standard: 140-145mm
  • Long: 150-155mm
Face Shapes

Find the Perfect Frame for Your Face

Oval Face

You're lucky - most frame shapes work well! Try square, rectangular, or aviator styles to add angles to your balanced features.

Round Face

Angular and geometric frames create contrast. Look for rectangular, square, or cat-eye shapes that add definition.

Square Face

Soften strong jawlines with round or oval frames. Rimless styles also work well to balance angular features.

Heart Face

Balance a wider forehead with bottom-heavy frames. Aviators, cat-eyes, and round shapes complement this face shape.

Oblong Face

Add width with oversized frames or decorative temples. Avoid narrow or small frames that elongate the face.

Diamond Face

Highlight your cheekbones with cat-eye or oval frames. Rimless designs also work beautifully.

Total Frame Width

If you can't find measurements, measure the total width of your frame from end to end. This should be close to your face width at the temples.

Fitting Tips

Signs of a Perfect Fit

  • Frame width matches your face - edges align with your temples
  • Eyes are centered in the lenses
  • Nose pads rest comfortably without pinching
  • Temples follow the contour of your head to the ears
  • No pressure points or sliding

Common Fit Issues

Frames Too Wide?
Look for a smaller lens width. The frame edges shouldn't extend past your face.

Frames Too Narrow?
Look for a larger lens width. You shouldn't feel pressure on your temples.

Bridge Too High/Low?
Try different bridge sizes or frames with adjustable nose pads.

Temples Too Short?
Look for longer temple lengths. They should reach comfortably behind your ears.
